1. Secura Stainless Steel Electric Wine Opener – Overall the Best Electric Wine Opener

Electric wine openers should have three major thing going for them – they should be able to open up a bottle of your favorite sauvignon in a few seconds, be super easy to operate and look attractive. Secura’s stainless steel electric wine opener performs admirably in all three, and it didn’t take much convincing for me to appoint it the best electric wine opener in the guide!

Gadgets like this are all about leaving an impression as a sophisticated host, and Secura has designed their opener with equal attention to aesthetics and functionality. Its stainless steel body and charger will fit the décor of any contemporary kitchen seamlessly. The space the opener and its charging station take up is minimal, while the visual improvement to the kitchen is very noticeable thanks to the pleasant blue light it emits and its metallic sheen. The light is also handy to have as a small night light that will help you find your way around the kitchen if you’re hankering for a midnight snack without turning the main light on and possibly waking someone up.

Performance is on a high level too. Just use the supplied foil cuter to prepare a bottle, place the opener on top of it, press a button and your wine will be breathing a few short moments thereafter. With enough juice in it to open up to thirty bottles per charge, this is not just a time-saving, but an efficient gadget as well. When the battery runs low, you place the opener onto its charging station and it takes care of the rest.

The only major flaw with this wine opener is that it isn’t compatible with 220 / 240 volt power grids, meaning that if you’re from outside of North America and really want to get your hands on one, you’ll have to use an adapter to charge it correctly.

Secura’s wine opener impresses with its sophisticated appearance and its bottle opening capabilities alike. I’ve yet to find a cork I couldn’t remove effortlessly, which speaks for itself. If you’re looking for a useful gadget to help open your bottles as well as a very interesting conversation piece for your next party, this is the wine opener you should invest in!

Pros
  • Efficiently opens any wine bottle
  • Stainless steel housing
  • Long battery life
Cons
  • Charger is only compatible with 120V outlets

2. Ozeri Nouveaux II Electric Wine Opener – The Best Electric Wine Bottle Opener for People who Struggle with Manual Models

The trouble with some wine openers is that they can be too unwieldy. A flashy exterior is fine & dandy, but if the gadget itself is too bulky and doesn’t fit right in the hand, you can still have a hard time with the task it’s supposed to make much easier, not to mention if you’re suffering from a medical condition such as arthritis. Ozeri knows that housing design is just as important as efficiency, and theirs is the best electric wine bottle opener I’ve found in that respect.

Designed to subtly conform itself to the contour of your hand, the housing becomes narrower at its center, making for a comfortable, stable grip. The balance is spot on and ensures you’ll get that cork out easily, every time. Once you’re done, you can place the opener onto its wide transparent base, which eliminates the need for a charging station. You even get to choose its color – silver, red and black all look great with both the transparent corkscrew shell and the soft light it glows with when you’re opening bottles or recharging the device.

Another of its handy features is the foil cutter on the opener’s top. Use that to get rid of the foil, flip the device over and you’re ready for to open it. The automated corkscrew can easily take care of any kind of cork, even synthetic. Thanks to the see-through shell, you get to experience the whole process first-hand. Sixty bottles can be opened with a single charge, so you won’t have to plug the Nouveaux II in and charge it very often. A stopper and pourer are also part of its package, making for an even better value.

After you’ve been using it for a while, you may notice that the wine opener is struggling to chew through corks and is taking longer to open them. This is because of the battery’s decrease in power over time. Replacing it after a year or so will restore the gadget to full working order.

Entertaining your guests with a glowing, transparent wine opener is fun! It’s just the right kind of item to help make the atmosphere you’re creating even more special. Add to that its ease of use and effectiveness at performing its job, and Ozeri’s Nouveaux II positions itself as a high-end, attractive wine opener you won’t regret splurging on.

Pros
  • Ergonomic handle
  • Transparent corkscrew shell
  • Innovative foil cutter
Cons
  • Battery starts to lose power after a while

3. Vremi Electric Wine Opener Set – The Best Rated Electric Wine Bottle Opener Set

Even though the two openers I’ve reviewed so far have been great at tackling stubborn corks, the amount of accessories they came with was pretty basic. Wouldn’t it be great if you could choose how many, if any, accessories should accompany your wine opener? Vremi offers you an effective bottle-opening device, and lots of additional options too!

The basic version consists of the electric wine opener, a pourer and a foil cutter, so everything you need to get to some fine wine as soon as possible. The opener itself is well-made, featuring a stylish black & silver housing as well as a see-through corkscrew shell. It activates at the push of a button and eats through any kind of cork you can throw at it. At the top, there’s a big LED indicator that shows the remaining battery life. It glows a pleasant green while there’s a charge, and red when it’s time to plug it in.

If you often find yourself opening up more than one bottle of wine at a time and would like to preserve the taste of the wine in each after you do so, there’s a whole 9-piece wine opener set available which comes with additional stoppers and a wine preserver vacuum pump which will help keep the wine taste delicious a week after it has been opened. On its own, the wine opener is an effective tool, but the addition of all these accessories makes it become part of the best rated electric wine bottle opener set available.

Although it is advertised as being able to open 30 bottles per charge, sadly that’s not the case. The battery takes ages to fully charge, and when it does, you’ll get twenty uses out of it at most. You won’t mind if you’re only using it to open a couple of bottles for dinner with friends, but it will become a problem for large birthday parties or other feasts since the opener probably won’t be able to keep up.

This situational setback shouldn’t make you give up on purchasing Vremi’s wine opener though! Both its basic and advanced versions offer very good value for the money you spent on them. There’s no better combo for opening a few wine bottles and keeping them fresh afterwards, and you’ll be thankful you got this particular set once you have one too many of those half-empty lying around.

Pros
  • Effective at opening bottles
  • Battery indicator light
  • Lots of accessories
Cons
  • Long charging time
  • Doesn’t hold as much charge as advertised

4. Oster Cordless Electric Wine Bottle Opener with Foil Cutter – The Best Rated Electric Wine Opener

People on the internet like to create a lot of buzz about things. This wine bottle opener by Oster is one of them – you’ll find it is at the top of many a bestseller list and the subject of raving reviews. Is it all it’s cracked up to be though? Let’s find out together!

First impressions with it have been generally positive – the wine opener looks beautiful and sophisticated. Everything from its slick power on light through the foolproof single button control to the curving recharging station looks modern and appealing. It’s sure to add a dash of class to your kitchen. Apart from a neutral silver, you can get yours in the colors of champagne or merlot, thereby making your drinking preferences public, or just going with what looks best.

Its slim design also makes the opener easy to hold and operate. After you’ve removed the bottle’s foil, you place it on top, turn it on, add a little pressure from above and there you have it, fragrant wine open and ready to breathe in less than a minute. It works with bottles of all standard sizes and is able to tear through not just your garden variety cork, but rubber and other synthetic corks too, which is a testament to its impressive power.

Because the corkscrew is surrounded by a solid protective layer, you can’t see what’s going on and whether it has penetrated the cork entirely or not. Also, as is the problem with some models I’ve previously mentioned, the charge decreases over time, so expect not being able to open as many bottles six months or a year after you’ve purchased it.

So, does the best rated electric wine opener live up to the hype? Mostly, yes! It does suffer from a few annoying battery faults, but as far as aesthetics, performance and ease of use go, Oster’s wine opener definitely receives high marks. It’s also affordable, all the more reason to pick one up for yourself, and at least two – three more as excellent gifts.

Pros
  • Elegant design and color choices
  • Solid performance
  • Affordable
Cons
  • Battery becomes weaker over time

5. Den Haven Wine Opener – The Best Electric Corkscrew Wine Opener if You’re on a Budget

Last to be reviewed, but by no means to be taken lightly is an electric wine opener from Den Haven. Its target audience are people who want to experience the added quality of life a device like this offers while not spending much, and senior citizens who can’t rely on the strength of their hands anymore and need a cheap, reliable solution for their bottle-opening needs.

The design is straightforward but by no means unattractive – a black wand that tapers towards the bottom with silver around its only button. I had no trouble holding or using it as the opener fit snugly in the hand and doesn’t slip.

Although it takes slightly longer to pull the corks out because of the way it is powered, the opener can contend with most common bottle and cork types. Make sure that you’re applying pressure while it’s doing its thing until the corkscrew has gone completely through and you should have no problems with it.

At this price, it is understandable that some compromises had to be made. The biggest one of all is that the wine opener doesn’t come with a rechargeable battery. Four standard AA batteries are required to power it. The batteries put out enough power to successfully uncork a few bottles, but you can tell that the device is having a hard time while doing it.

I’ve seen a number of models which were twice as expensive perform on par or worse than Dan Haven’s opener, and in its own price bracket it is undisputedly the best electric corkscrew wine opener. It will get the job done without too many hiccups, and that’s all that matters.

Pros
  • Ergonomic design
  • Affordable
Cons
  • Isn’t rechargeable
  • Batteries struggle to provide power for opening some bottles

Electric Wine Opener Buyer’s Guide

Not much more stands between you and that first, unforgettable sip, except that cork of course! Here’s what to remember when buying the best electric wine opener to take care of that for you:

  • Strength – More than anything, a bottle opener needs to be able to go straight through any cork and remove it, without much strain on your end. The idea is to get a powerful device that drives the corkscrew all the way through, not a struggling, whirring one that only mangles the cork and stops half way. This has to do with the motor’s strength as well as the state of the battery. If either of those aren’t up to snuff, you’re going to have a hard time with your wine bottles, so do read the technical specs before you buy.
  • Battery Life – Most manufacturers claim that their opener can last for thirty bottles or more until it’s time to recharge it. As we’ve seen in the reviews, this is not always the case and can lead to uncomfortable situations. Reading a guide like this one and checking out first-hand experiences others have shared online will go a long way in selecting a model you’ll have to recharge less often.
  • Price – 99 percent of the time, you’ll find that spending extra on a top of the line product is worth it because of the added features and quality build. The same can’t really be said for wine openers. You’ll notice that all of the units in this guide are very attractive price-wise, although there are others that go for $50 or more. The truth is, once you get past a certain price point the opener you buy might be flashier and its value as a housewarming gift might increase, but it will hardly be more effective at doing what it’s supposed to than a much cheaper model. Of course, you shouldn’t cheap out on one either, but spending too much really isn’t worth it in this case.
